A Career Planning and Support Programme for Lone Parents

New Futures is a six month training and support programme certified by FETAC. The current course started in September 2011. This intensive programme provides a structured environment where participants develop the self-knowledge and skills to explore the choices and opportunities open to them. Participants develop an individualised career action plan and move on to training, education and employment on completeion of the programme.

  • Discover what jobs or courses suit you
  • Become more confident
  • Find out how returning to work/education will affect your finances
  • Get the support and friendship of a group of parents in the same situation as you
  • Learn how to balance work and family life

As part of the programme the following are available:

  • Childcare
  • One to one support
  • Information, counselling and parenting support

Our Steps to New Futures offers an accredited programme for participants, through which they can progress to New Futures, if desired. Topics covered are goal setting, getting on top of bad habits, finding motivation and improving productivity.

This programme is funded by the Department of Social Protection.
