Family Day

What is family day?

Family Day is a national celebration of the diversity of families and family life in Ireland. For the last two years, we have organised a Family Day event each May to mark UN International Day of the Family.

As broadcaster Ray D’Arcy explained at the launch,

‘Mothers’ Day is for mums and Fathers’ Day is for dads but Family Day is for everyone to celebrate all types of families.’

We provided free entertainment and family friendly activities such as arts and crafts, sports, story-telling, face-painting, jugglers and magicians.

Many other families registered on www.familyday.ie to hold their own event around the country.

Our photo competition also encourages participation as you could submit your Family Day photos into a prize draw at www.familyday.ie

Family Day 2012, Sunday 13 May, will be bigger and better to mark One Family’s 40th Anniversary and help fundraise for our national askonefamily helpline.

We would love you to join us in the Iveagh Gardens with you family or community group – or to organise your own event around the country.

Over 2000 people attended the Family Day Picnic 2011 in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens, kindly sponsored by EBS with media support from Today FM and The Evening Herald.

We are delighted to announce that EBS will be the presenting sponsor again for 2012 – but other sponsorship opportunities are still open and we’d love to hear from any interested parties.
