Parenting courses

One Family offers a range of parenting courses for people who parent alone or share parenting. To book any of the courses below, or to simply find out more, call 01 6629212 or email info@onefamily.ie  or fill in this form. All courses take place at One Family, 2 Lower Pembroke St, Dublin 2.

Positive Parenting course: Positive Parenting teaches you how to manage your child’s challenging behaviour. 2012 dates to be announced soon.

Family Communications:  Trying to communicate with a teenager who just won’t listen? Family Communications shows you how direct communication can help. 2012 dates to be announced soon.

Dads’ workshops

These workshops are for dads who parent on their own or share parenting. You will get a chance to explore parenting issues whilst also meeting other dads in a similar situation. All workshops run from 3-5pm on Tuesdays and cost €10 per day.

Information support for dads

One Family will be running support meetings for dads over the coming months.  These include Practicing Good Communication Skills to Manage Conflict and Talking to your children about your family situation. These meetings are a good opportunity to explore parenting issues that affect you and your child while also meeting with other dads in a similar situation. 2012 dates to be announced soon.

Parent mentoring

Parent mentoring provides individual sessions for parents looking at child behaviour. The sessions help you to understand your children’s behaviour and give you the tools to deal with challenging behaviour effectively. 2012 dates to be announced soon.

Childcare service

One Family has a part-time creche service for parents accessing our services. We also offer limited places to one-parent families in our community. For more information contact our Childcare and Parenting service on 01 662 9212 or email info@onefamily.ie

Parenting tips

Parenting alone or sharing parenting can be a challenge, so One Family has come up with a whole range of booklets and articles to help you cope. See here for more.

Social group

One Family’s popular social group allows lone parents to meet other parents in a similar situation to themselves, to form friendships and to take some time out for themselves. Please call 01 6629212 for more details. All courses have a small fee which can be discussed at registration.

Child Contact Centres

Barnardos and One Family are taking referrels for the first Child Contact Centres in Ireland – safe, friendly places where children can spend time with the parent/s they do not live with. Read more
