Family Communications Training

This training course is based on our manual Family Communications: Coping with Family Life and Communicating with Teenagers.

It teaches you how to work with groups of parents, to strengthen their skills in managing the demands of family life. A copy of the manual is included in the cost of the training.

The course has an emphasis towards those parenting alone, sharing parenting and parenting through family change.

The course covers how to:

• Design and deliver a 6 to 12 week Family Communications Programme
• Understand the theory behind the Family Communcations manual
• Adapt the manual to work one-to-one work with families
• Support parents to rebuild family life after a crisis
• Be familiar with the principles of clear and direct communication
• Support parents with good communication in the home
• Support parents who are parenting teenagers
• Support parents to create a positive environment at home
• Be aware of family diversity in Ireland today
• Support parents who are separating or divorcing, sharing-parenting, parenting in a multicultural society
• Support one-parent families to talk about their family situation.
